PORTLAND, Ore — Kyle Iboshi is an award-winning investigative news reporter with KGW.

Since joining KGW in 2000, Kyle has covered a variety of local, national and international stories. Kyle traveled to Sri Lanka in the aftermath the 2004 tsunami, he reported live from New York City on the anniversary of 9/11 and he spent nearly a month covering the Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver, Canada.

In 2008, Kyle was awarded a fellowship with the RIAS Germany-U.S. Journalists Exchange and traveled to Berlin, Prague and Brussels, where he met with community leaders, journalists, and government officials from the EU and NATO.

In 2011, the East-West Center selected Kyle to participate in the Korea-U.S. Journalists Exchange. During the fellowship, Kyle traveled throughout South Korea to meet with government leaders, academics and military officials.

In 2013, Kyle traveled to Japan through an international reporting fellowship from the International Center for Journalists. Kyle received an Emmy award for his special report on Japanese tsunami debris, along with a national reporting award from the Asian American Journalists Association.

In 2014, Kyle participated in the Journalists Law School at Loyola Law School. The fellowship condensed core law-school subjects into a seminar taught by Loyola Law faculty, practicing attorneys, legislators and judges.

In 2017, Kyle was selected for the prestigious Kiplinger Fellowship. Kyle studied with journalists from around the world at the Ohio State University.

Kyle received the Oregon State Bar Consumer Law Section’s Award of Merit in 2020 for his coverage of consumer protection issues including a series of reports titled, “The Cost of Collections” examining the aggressive tactics used by government to force people to pay up.

Kyle graduated from Glencoe High School in Hillsboro, Oregon. He attended Washington State University, earning a BA from the Edward R. Murrow School of Communication. His first job was at KDRV-TV (ABC) in Medford, Oregon. In 1996, he moved to Bend, Oregon to work for KTVZ-TV (NBC) as a morning anchor. From 1996 to 2000 Kyle reported for KLAS-TV (CBS) in Las Vegas, Nevada.

He is an active member of AAJA and Investigative Reporters & Editors. He has served on the Oregon State Bar Press Broadcast Council and participated in the FBI's Citizen's Academy.

Kyle has received various national, local, and regional awards for his work including honors from the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, Radio Television Digital News Association, Associated Press, Oregon Association of Broadcasters, AAJA and Electronic Media Awards.

Kyle lives in Portland with his wife. He has three sons. He enjoys golf, cooking and travel.
